BROTHER was so popular last season that we just had to have them back again. Their music is high energy and unique. The audience kept wanting more.
BROTHER delivers a riveting performance - a celtic and tribal fusion of contrasting instruments and sounds. Fusing signature vocals and guitar with the deep pulse of the didgeridoo, the soaring highs of the bagpipes, and tribal percussion, BROTHER is wholly original. The band's powerhouse live performances are an energetic celebration, captivating and engaging audiences from the first song to the last.
Angus Richardson, founding member of BROTHER, arrived in Los Angeles from Australia with his brothers two decades ago as little more than fresh-faced farm boys. In LA, they found themselves busking at Venice Beach, the Hollywood Bowl and Universal Studios to survive. Since those days, BROTHER evolved its trademark sound while touring extensively in the United States and in Canada, Japan, France, Egypt and Australia. They did it all free from standard industry trends and pigeon-holes. BROTHER has self-released 12 albums, sold more CDs in the USA than any other independent Australian act and has regularly been cited as a role model within the independent scene.
Two brothers have since left the band to pursue other careers, leaving Angus with soul brothers Drew Reid on Didgeridoo and Dalbo Allen on drums and percussion. Dalbo (Dave) Allen joined with the brothers on their third album. His uniquely powerful tribal rhythms have become a trademark of the BROTHER sound. Dalbo, when not touring with BROTHER, is in demand for TV and movie sessions in Los Angeles, where he is based.
After buying his first didgeridoo in Boulder Colorado in 2002, Drew(Didgeridrew) Reid came out of the store to hear the compelling sound of didgeridoo with bagpipes. It was BROTHER playing at a nearby record store. After meeting the band Drew went on his way but less than a year later fate brought them together again. Drew, having since mastered the didge, joined the band on stage and soon found himself on the road full time. Today he is a pivotal member of BROTHER.
Each of the band members plays a variety of modern and ancient instruments that blend seamlessly in a high energy delivery, driven by the obvious chemistry between the band members - Angus on vocals, guitar and bagpipes; Didgeridrew on didgeridoos, keys, throat singing, whistles and melodica and Dalbo Allen on drums, percussion, triggers and vocals. Dalbo fills the back of the stage with his powerful rhythms and beaming presence. When not at their respective stations singing, playing guitar and keys, Angus and Drew will roam the stage and the audience, pied pipers of the didgeridoo and bagpipes.
Chances are you've seen BROTHER on NBC's 'ER', maybe heard their music on the classic 'Baraka' soundtrack or UPN's 'Twilight Zone.' BROTHER has toured extensively, playing major festivals in the United States and overseas. The band has also shared stages with Joe Walsh, John Entwhistle, Linkin Park and Alicia Keys and is the only independent band to have played the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
